I am pleased to announce that all of the scores from the WCPL's New York classic have been entered into the PBLeague's database and are now viewable.
You can find the details
here (click "Finals" in the menu to see those scores).
The delay in posting the scores was due to a variety of factors, some of which were outside the control of either the WCPL or PBLeagues.com. One complicating factor was the preliminary round game scheduling.
WCPL events guarantee each team a minimum of 8 preliminary round games (bang for your bucks). With 14 teams attending, creating divisions that would distribute games evenly and give each team both a balanced draw and their 8 games was not subject to traditional scheduling. The decision was made at the event to handle things in the following manner:
First, divide the teams into two divisions of 7 teams each (based on a fair drawing system that was conducted live on the Flag Pull Production's podcast Mr. Fred and Friends). This offered each team the opportunity to play every other team in their division (which we've all deemed a fair way of going about it for something like the past 30 years or so).
It was then decided that teams would be re-ranked based on those first six preliminary round scores and would then play two teams from the other division - cross-divisional play - for two more games, giving them their minimum 8 games.
This was all then followed by a fairly traditional four team (top two from each division based on scores from all 8 preliminary round games moving on) round robin.
I'd once again like to thank Chris Raehl of PBLeagues for his assistance and perseverance, and all of the Teams who attended for their patience.
It was a great event, we all had a wonderful time, and now we have placed it firmly into the history books!
