Tonight's episode of the Mr. Fred & Friends Podcast will feature the legendary Bud Orr of WGP & Autococker fame, along with Peng Kin and Bill Bailey.  Starting at 10 pm EST (7 pm west coast time), you can watch it here.

Old school players will remember a time, lasting perhaps two competition seasons, when Autocockers and Automags were considered the "only" guns suitable for competitive use.  There was an intense rivalry among players and teams - despite the fact that the guns creators - Bud Orr of Autococker fame and Tom Kaye of Automag fame, were good friends and had even helped each other out with their designs.

Back in those days I was primarily a 'Mag user, though I did acquire tech certification for both guns, both of which were marvels of engineering, and not just paintball engineering.

While I'd shot plenty of 'Cockers to test and tune, it wasn't until I was called to fill in on a game at the NPPL's Vegas event that I had to use a borrowed one in competition.  Despite the fact that I kept on slamming my goggle lens with the cocking block, I did get three eliminations that game, which I think is a testament to the gun  itself, rather than my shooting abilities.

Bud is not only a great inventor, he's a great guy.  And he's still playing too, putting in appearances with the Band at WCPL events.

Peng Kin, a legendary cocker tech will be joining him, along with Bill Bailey of  Old School Markers fame.

Looks like I'll be drinking coffee after 4 pm so I can stay up and watch what will no doubt be a fantastic show - especially if you're one of those 'cocker players!
