Fred Schultz, WCPL promoter and host of The Southern California Classic - February 18th & 19th (just two weeks from now!) has sent along a birds-eye view of Ambush Paintball where the games will be taking place.
The field is a "mounds" field, meaning that it is constructed with earth-moving equipment to create mounds, berms and ridges.
Over the years it was discovered that this style of playing field offers many of the same experiences as playing in the woods themselves. In fact, one of the original purposes of a Mounds Field is to create a woodsball style field where no woods exist.
As the Ambush Paintball website mentions, this field was constructed on land that was clear cut for farming in the 1950s. It takes a little bit longer than from then to now to grow a natural woodsball field (unless you like trying to hide behind saplings).
If you've never learned how to play a hillside, this kind of field can be extremely challenging. Don't bring your camping gear, you're not going to get to use it!
